Charles Schwab is offering a cash bonus of up to $1,000 to customers who open a new Schwab Bank Investor Checking account and fund it with money that's new to Schwab.

The offer

New-to-Schwab depositBonus
$25,000 to $49,999$250
$50,000 to $99,999$500
$100,000 or more$1,000
  • Deadline: open the account and post the qualifying deposits by November 10, 2026.
  • Holding period: keep the qualifying balance every day from November 10 through December 25, 2026. If it slips into a lower tier for even one day, the bonus drops to that tier.
  • Who qualifies: new Schwab clients, and existing Schwab One brokerage clients who don't already have Investor Checking. The checking account is linked to a Schwab One brokerage account. All owners must be U.S. citizens or resident aliens living in the U.S.
  • "New-to-Schwab" funds means money coming from outside Schwab. Moving money from an existing Schwab account doesn't count.
  • Payout: within one to two statement cycles after you meet the requirements. The account must still be open and in good standing.
  • No direct deposit is required.

Terms are from Schwab's Investor Checking offer page, checked Oct 23, 2026. See the Schwab bank bonus listing for a quick summary.

What it's worth

The money only has to sit for about six weeks if you fund on the deadline. On $100,000, $1,000 over roughly six weeks is a strong return compared with a typical savings rate, but check what the cash would earn elsewhere before moving it. At the $25,000 tier, $250 is decent but less exceptional.

This offer may make sense if you already have cash sitting at another bank and you're comfortable with a brokerage-linked checking account. Bank bonuses are usually taxable as interest income.
