The offer

  • Bonus: 75,000 miles after $4,000 in purchases within the first 3 months from account opening
  • Plus: a one-time $300 Capital One Travel stays credit for hotel and vacation rental bookings made through Capital One Travel in the first cardholder year
  • Annual fee: $95
  • End date: Capital One calls it a limited-time offer but doesn't list an end date

Capital One says the bonus is available by applying through its offer page and may not be available if you navigate away from it.

Earn rates (per Capital One)

  • 5x miles on hotels, vacation rentals and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel
  • 2x miles on every other purchase

Miles don't expire for the life of the account, and they can be transferred to Capital One's travel loyalty partners or redeemed against travel.

Other benefits (per Capital One)

  • Up to a $120 credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck
  • No foreign transaction fees

Fine print on the $300 credit

Capital One says the credit can only be used on hotel and vacation rental purchases made through Capital One Travel, and it expires one year after account opening. It can be used on one booking or split across several.

Eligibility

Capital One says you're not eligible for the bonus if you've received a new-cardmember bonus on the Capital One Venture or Venture X card in the past 48 months. A new card means a hard credit inquiry.

Is it worth it?

This offer may make sense if you can meet $4,000 in spend in 3 months with normal purchases and you'd book a hotel or vacation rental through Capital One Travel within a year anyway. The $300 credit only has value if you use it on a booking you'd make regardless. Compare it with the $95 annual fee, which applies every year.
